NOTE FROM A FORMER OLYMPIAN

"I was 19 years old when I had the honor of representing my country, Canada in the 1976 Olympic games in Montreal. It was one of the proudest moments of my life. But my real journey started earlier. Before the Olympics, I was lucky enough to travel to Europe as a young athlete. For a teenager who had never been that far from home, it was eye-opening. I met people from different countries; heard languages I didn’t understand and saw places I only read about. We shared meals, trades stories, and I learned that even though we grew up in completely different worlds, we still had so much in common. That experience changed me. It taught me how to adapt, to respect other cultures and to see the world with a much more open mind.
